1901 census - ALICE WHEABLE
« on: Wednesday 06 September 06 10:32 BST (UK) »
I have been trying to find Alice Wheable on the 1901 census

http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,178180.0.html

I am now struggling to reconcile the results list that Ancestry and the 1901 National Archive (GR) page both list, as they are completely different.

Alice appears to not be under her surname which I know is prone to mis-transcription and variations.

I have searched both sites using

Name ALICE (no surname)
birth year 1874      +/- 5 years
POB Chelsea

as search criteria.

Strangely on the 1901 site there is a return for 'Alice W Letet l' but I don't have any credits to see the image, I tried to cross reference her on the Ancestry site and can't see the same or a similar entry.

As Alice is not with the rest of family, I'm assuming she is in service somewhere.

I'm hoping another pair of eyes can track her down. Does she turn up on an 'Origins' search, I don't have access to that but I know many of you do.

(Please don't waste a credit looking at the '1901' image, when I have a batch of look-ups to pay for I'll get the credits.)

Thanks in advance

Hi, Pauline (and Dawn)

Pauline - do you have acess to the images as well on on the free 1901 Index at the moment?

That entry looks very interesting

N or W heteto.n  or letters to that effect.

She is recorded as born Chelsea and is aged 30

Hello all

I've booked an internet session at a local library tomorrow where they have a subscription to Ancestry Library Edition, I'll check it out further there for free.
