Hi

I have not encountered this problem before so have little experience in dealing with it.  You can go to Start->Help and Support and then type in shutdown as the search criteria and follow the steps to resolving the problem.

I think they suggest that an antivirus program like Norton or McAfee may cause a problem, but I have Norton and although I get a small screen saying End this process now from time to time, it usually ends the process without any problems.

I think one thing you should do is to run  check disk to repair any potential problems.

Click on My Computer->Properties->Tools and then Error Checking.

There are a couple of check boxes that you need to check to do a thorough scan.  However, if you have an NTFS file system you will not be able to Repair Errors while Windows is running as it requires exclusive access.  You will have to schedule a chkdsk after a shutdown and reboot.

I'm wondering whether Windows automatically runs chkdsk when you restart Windows?  If not it should do.

sometimes I get a screen window that says
end task - ccApps, ending program,

looks like one of those windows you get  when something is failing to respond.

Hi

Just before you shutdown, right click the Task Bar and bring up Task Manager.

Click on the Applications tab and see what is running.

If nothing is running then click on the Processes Tab.  Look down the CPU column and see if anything (besides System Idle) is running into double figures.
If it is a non-SYSTEM process then we may need to investigate further.

Make a note of that process and do a Google search for it and see what it does.

No, not this time, mine varies, sometimes when I've done the shut down and go away, I'll still hear the machine, so come back to look and then the window with the end task ccApps is showing,
othertimes, I'll go away and come back later to find it just isn't doing anything. But the tea and cake were nice!Lol ;D
I'm sure downside and falkryn will help,
Newbie ;D

The CcApps window comes up during Shutdown as a task/process needing to be terminated to free resources - it seems to get left hanging on my sysytem by my OUTLOOK email client ... If I shut down OUTLOOK first, it doesnt happen .... but thats not your problem, something is stopping the Shutdown process dead in its tracks - its very likely a known bug..... or you may have a hardware problem ...

You can search MS Knowledge Base - or perhaps get your fixes up to date with Windows Auto Update ?
