Fron Bache Cemetery Llangollen
« on: Saturday 09 September 06 08:11 BST (UK) »
Hi

Does anyone know where i can find out where my ancestors are buried at Fron bache? Are there are cemetery plans?

Also where would i look for burial records if a funeral service was conducted at the house and then at the cemetery... or just at the cemetery?

Regards

Going to Llan tomorrow to my parents so will ask them for you.  I think the local undertakers have the plans usually but will try and find out for you

I won't have time tomorrow but in the next couple of weeks may be able to wander around the graveyard for you as It's down the road from where I grew up.

Hi Mandy

That's very kind of you, i am hoping there are plans.... as my family are either Jones / Edwards which are very popular names.

My taid grew up in Fron Bache cemetery cottage.... don't know if you remember a Douglas Jones? or that my great taid and nain lived there as well with there grand daughter June?

Well, i look forward to hearing from you

Pleasure to look for you. Did Douglas have a nickname by any chance and could you give me some idea of the dates he would have been living there as my mum and dad might have know him.

My mum and dad are in their 60's now but know most people in Llan as they have lived there all their lives.

Llan only a small place and everyone tends to know everyone. Do you know his parents names as this may help my mum and dad also.

Hello Jeannie,
There are plans but they won't help you very much! They just show the surname and a lot of the graves are not marked. As you expected there are a lot of Joneses and quite a few Edwards.
This cemetery is a public one maintained by the Denbighshire CC, and they have all the burial records.
Write to the Cemetery Officer at Kinmel Park, Bodelwyddan,
giving all the names, ages ,addresses etc and ask for a search. There will be a charge, but if successful you will have all the persons in the grave with their date of burial and age. It worked for me.

Regards Eldon.

Hello Eldon

I have had the information back from denbighshire cc and i have found out a few other names of people in the graves.

As you said the plans are not the best, i went up to Fron Bache cemetery on Monday, being very hopeful that i would find the graves, but sadly there was only one that had a clear headstone. Lots were unmarked or so faded and broken that it was impossible to read.

Many thanks again for pointing me in the right direction.
