May thanks Patrish.

Hi Patrish

I have just seem the same dilemma on another thread!

I would think any variant on Janet, Jane, Jennifer would be most likely, expecially in Scotland.

for censuses it could be Jeanie, Jeannie, Jenifer, Jenny, Jennie...

Have you tried searching without a first name to see what turns up?

What information do you ahve on this person - can you find her siblings or parents instead to see if she is with them?

kind regards, Arranroots  ;)

Hi Arranroots,

She wasn't Scottish, born St.James Westminster according to the 1901.

I tried just putting female Orford b 1872 Westminster but nothing came up on Ancestry.

Would you mind taking a look at the 1901  as I think she was an Orford according to the relationships? would value your opinion. I may have got it wrong.

Many thanks Patrish.

Oh you!  Flattery will get you anywhere!  ;D

It certainly looks like 'sister', which should mean that she was nee ORFORD.  Her place of birth matches that of the head of house too.

I cannot find an ORFORD/ PENGELLY marriage after a quick search.

Very odd!

Still thinking...

And this is completely off the wall, but they appear to be going by William & Jessie MANSFIELD in 1891

Sister Florence is also consistent, as is father Alfred, although the mother's name has changed Eliza/Lucy

I have got them now in 1891 could not read my own writing ;D ;D looking at page 27 instead of 23, don't think its the right family though too may discrepancies

I do think Eugenia b 1871 Westminster is Jenny, second name eliza fits with mother.

Many thanks Patrish.
