Transcribing - my way to say "Thanks"
« on: Tuesday 12 September 06 00:01 BST (UK) »
Well, after being a member of various family history societies for a number of years, I have at last taken the plunge and volunteered to do some transcribing work!!  :)

The societies I belong to are mostly far away from where I live, but last year I joined the local branch of the society in my local area. Tonight, volunteers were sought to transcribe the copies of various registers and I thought I ought to do my "bit" - even though the registers are for an area in Wales - so I will have an added difficulty. I have no Welsh ancestry to date (despite family tales of "Welsh married Irish somewhere in the family".)

So, I'd just like to add a thank-you to all those hardworking family history people who have transcribed records over the years -!!!! Without them, I would not have been able to progress on my family tree - especially those in the London and Hertfordshire areas.

Jan, Well Done!!!!

I have transcribed over 10,000 peeps for the Warwickshire Ancestry Project. It has been a lot of fun...but  you need innovative eyeballs!..hehehehe....some of that handwriting is beyond the pale.

It feels so good to be able to contribute to this large family of genealogy hounds!

Keep up the great work.....Oh...and.... I don't envy you Wales....those place names are a bear.....still a G&T should make em right!

Good Luck
Indi

I don't drink - I somehow think a cup of tea won't have the same effect!! :)

I am going to make a start this evening - I was going to watch the repeat of the Barbara Windsor family history programme - but here in Wales, we've got a rugby match on instead!! :(
