Arthur Derrick Huthersall Foster
« on: Tuesday 12 September 06 12:24 BST (UK) »
Arthur Foster was born 9th April 1896 in Selby.
09.1909-04.1913:   He attended St Peter’s School, York, having previously attended its junior school, St Olav’s, York. He went on to a career in flax milling in Selby.
Sometime during WW1 he joined the army and played some part in the establishment of the RFC. In WW2 he served as a pilot and ended the war at Hawkinge.
He died 22nd December 1967 and is buried at Hawkinge (Plot No KKA307).
Can anybody tell me anything about his RFC/RAF career?

He left the RAF around 1947 as Group Captain and took up residence eventually at Westbrook House School, Shorncliffe Road, Folkestone, Kent, with his brother Kenneth Noel Goring Foster. Kenneth had opened the school in Jan 1947 and he ran it passionately until he retired in 1968. He then "worked" as Hon Sec of the Radnor Club in Folkestone.

Does anyone know what Arthur's postings were during WW2?
