James NEWTON, died & buried in Jersey
« on: Wednesday 13 September 06 20:15 BST (UK) »
I have information from a contemporary notebook that states that my ancestor James NEWTON ... "died & was buried in Jersey".

He was born & baptised in the South Devon coastal village of Branscombe in March 1797.  And this is the last I have seen of him!

Can anyone suggest or look-up any possible sources of information to place him or his burial.

Many Thanks

Hi -  I could look in the Jersey archives burials registers and index, but it would be really helpful to know roughly when you think Isaac died.   When do you think the 'contemporary notebook' dates from?

Hi mike,

Thanks for the offer.   All I know about the notebook is that it was written by his cousin, and she died in 1912 (I am not in possession of the book).

All I could think is that he was probably an adult, so I would imagine 35 minimum... and then anything up to 80!.

This would narrow the year range to 1832-1877 !!

If died at usual age then I would think between 50-75 is most likely... making range of years 1845-75 'best guess'.

sorry I can't narrow it down anymore.

Regards,
