To be sure that's  a very nice offer you have made Pentio - thank you.  :)
I must eventually get around to searching out my links to Ireland.
Three times Gt.Grandma Mary Joyce was born in Tipperary in 1800 and died in London 1887.
Other than that the places I have linked also  with my mother's side of the family are :-

Cappawhite - Co. Tipperary.
Pallaskenry.
Rosscarbery. Co. Cork.

One of my mother's aunts married well and I have found all the information on her children and grandchildren in Burkes Peerage  ::)  However, I have for instance hesitated to write to one of her grandchildren whom it appears is a nun and if still alive would be 63 years of age. Would it be acceptable to write to a nun based at the Convent of Mercy or not - wouldn't want to go about things the wrong way..........

Thanks for any information - otherwise I shall have to resort to Google  ::)

Lots of Kiwis visit Ireland on their travels - I listen to all they have to say.

Bye for now...

Hi Emmeline. I had a Gentleman from N-Z over in Belfast this year, before he came over i done some research for him.
I picked him up at the Airport took him to Belfast, we went to the graveyard where his ancestries are buried.

We then went to the town where his ancestries came from i took him to their old house & to the old mill they owned in 1775.

I have some great photos of him at the graveyard & the old mill, i can tell you now he went home to N-Z a very happy man.

I think what Pentio is doing is a great thing, so Pentio keep up the good work for rootschats members.

Hello Anthony - Thanks for telling me about your visiting Kiwi.
I can imagine how thrilled and delighted he was to be taken to where his ancestors were buried and then to see the old house and mill.
No doubt he is showing off those photos and telling the story to all who will listen even now  - I know I would be full of smiles.  :) :)
It's great how we are all able to help each other on Rootschat and I know Pentio is finding pleasure in helping others with his photos.
Wishing you good luck with your own research  :)

Hi everyone.

Steve & Saz I  have been asking about for info on this Fountain, had some good leads but no luck yet, sorry.

I telephoned the Ulster folk museum, thats where B C C would send anything like the fountains, but no luck :(.

The only thing i got was a look at, was the Shareholders & Subscribers list for 1891.

Subscribers

A, Mc Dowell Dunallen.

J, Mc Dowell Landscape Terrace Belfast

Shareholders

Rev, S, B Stevenson Fitzroy Ave.

Will keep looking for anymore info on the fountain.

Well done on helping out the chap from New Zealand. I'm sure he is a very happy man :)

Photography is a big hobby of mine and I'm delighted to be able to help others with any requests they may have

As you are probably aware i am researching my St Helena family connections...my ggg..grandparents are buried on the island in St Pauls church........my brother in law who lives in England wrote to the local school on the island and asked the Head Master if he could assist us in our search......he was very happy to help

The children from the school are now searching the church graveyard to see if they can find the grave and will take a few photos if and when they find it 8) 8)

we are thrilled that they are so willing to help us.

Christopher

Thank you for the list of Street directories much appreciated.

Hi Pentio. Photography is also a great hobby of mine as well.

I was a member of a Camera club also a member of Belfast Expose that was on the Falls Rd many years ago.

Sold some for my photos to the Bank of Ireland also had a large dark room in our old house, its a great hobby.

I was out on Monday night taking some photos with my new camera, its not bad well pleased with it.

Its great that the children are helping you :) hope they get something for you.

If you need a helping hand at anytime just ask, it will be my pleasure to help out.

Hi pentio - What a great picture that conjures up - the school children in the grave-yard at St.Helena - seeking out your ancestors.........
Will hope to see more on this thread if they are successful.
