Can anyone tell me where Bromle... or Bromlia ?nr Wrecsam is in N Wales.  It appears as the birth place of Evan Evans who was living in Stoke-on-Trent, England on the 1861 census with wife Ellen (born Oswestery, Shropshire) with 7 children all born in Stoke-on-Trent.

I can not find Evan Evans on the BMD or other sites I have looked at.  His wedding certificate (1848) states his father as being 'Cadwalater' Evans.  I cannot find Cadwalater any where.  I have been looking at Cadwallader (in various spelling forms).

Do you think it could be Brymbo?  This is where the steel works was and is in Wrexham area.

Birth registration didnt come in until 1837 so Evan's birth would not be on BMD sites. You would need to look through the parish registers for Brymbo before that date.

The first thing to point out is that I can't see him living in Stoke-On-Trent in 1861 as you describe.

The 1861 original print out states him living at Upper Hill Street, Longton, Stoke-on-Trent and birth place as Bromle.....nr Wrecsam, N Wales.

Why can't you see him living in Stoke-on-Trent at that time.

Ancestry has him listed as "Even" Evans,and I have seen the entry now,and I would say it was definitely Brymbo as alongside it has written Wrexham.

Sharon in 1841 there are two Cadwalader Evans in Denbighshire.

Mary Evans,35,Yes.

Ruithin,Gyffylliog,Denbighshire.

Elizabeth Evans,55,Yes.

The first thing to point out in any earlier search is that the 1841 Census for the area is missing.Secondly Brymbo only became a Parish in its own right in 1844.Up until then any records for Brymbo will be included in the Wrexham Parish see;
