The top one definitely looks like WELLMAN, the second looks a bit like WELLMAN except that the E is a bit flattened - there doesn't seem to be a dot so probably an E.

There are a few Wellmans in the area, guess the only way of knowing is to find John with Harriett in Adam Street Newington on 1861 census

I have known several people called Wellman - not connected to each other. I never personally encountered any Willman people. So, given a choice of two possibilities I always first investigate the most likely.
Southern or Southan [Hereford , Monmouthshire & Glos], Jenkins, Meredith and Morgan [Monmouthshire and Glos.], Murrill, Damary, Damry, Ray, Lawrence [all Middx. & London], Nethway from Kenn or Yatton. Also Riley and Lyons in South Africa and Riley from St. Helena.
