In my experience, a charwoman usually doesn't have a husband.

The IGI has Harriet WOODCOCK as daughter of William and Millicent, bap 3 Oct 1824 ... it seems likely she never married, doesn't it?

1841 Census
Barwick's Buildings, Boston
Susanna CROPPER 85 Pauper
Millicent WOODCOCK 45
Harriett 15
(Not known, male) 15 AgLab (NOT Lincs

They were living next door to my ggg-grandfather, William EVERITT.

William WOODCOCK was buried at Boston 8 May 1827 age 31.  He had married Milicent CROPPER 9 Nov 1818.  She was bap 31 May 1796 at Donington, dau of John and Susanna.

Millicent WOODCOCK buried Boston 12 March 1863 age 65.
Hannah CROPPER buried Boston 29 June 1845 age 90.

Many thanks for sharing that information but I'm a little confused with William Woodcock's burial.

I've managed to trace him through to having married Emma (I think Emma Kesia Derrick) after moving to Warwickshire and having 9 children, my grandfather was the youngest of the 9. Managed to trace him through every census to 1881 where he was a blind mat maker, or am I looking at William junior?

(I've got a stuffed up head and aching body at the moment and just had to come home from work :()

I presume that William buried in 1827 was husband of Millicent and father of Harriett.

One last thing, you mention Hannah Cropper - should that have been Susanna?

I gave you the 1841 census (above) ... sorry, Milicent just has one "L" ... the first letter is quite unlike the first letter of my ggg-grandfather William living next door, so I assume it's an "M".

"Hannah CROPPER" is what the National burial index has.  It is the only CROPPER burial at Boston 1826-60, so I assume it's the correct one as the age is about right.  Perhaps the vicar was a bit deaf.

I dicovered burial of twins in my ancestral family a couple of weeks ago; although the burials were only a week apart, one was buried as COAN and the other as CANE.

Its interesting how the names can change, just goes to show how care must be taken when cross referencing names :D

Thanks again for your help!
