Which Parish?
« on: Wednesday 20 September 06 16:26 BST (UK) »
Hi

My husbands 3x gr grandmother Elizabeth nee Baker is listed in the 1841-1901 censuses as being born in Heydon, except for one where she is listed as Thasted.

I know that pre 1974 Heydon was in Essex but is now classed as Cambridgeshire.

I am having trouble finding which parishes these would have come under, and also there is a Haydon listed but not Heydon (which has confused me even more).

I am also putting this on the Cambridgeshire board as I am hoping that the more people who see it, the bigger chance I have of becoming unconfused.

Thank you for your time.

According to the GENUKI list of Registration Districts, Heydon has been switched between Essex and Cambridgeshire as follows:

Heydon
 ESS
 1837
 1895
 transferred to CAM in 1895
CAM
 1895
 1935
transferred from ESS in 1895 / transferred to Cambridgeshire district on 1.4.1935
