Hi all,

I have found the below website dedicated to the HERBERT family descended from Thomas & Grace HERBERT of Sussex (their family mostly ended up in London post 1830).

Hi ann
Just trawling through the surname interests and came across your post.  My husband's name is Herbert and his ancestors came from Gloucestershire, then to Wakefield area of Leeds.  Any interest to you?  Best wishes for the New Year to you and your family.  Regards Maeve

Hi,

I am not exactly sure where my Herbert's came from, I think my Thomas was born in Cirencester and moved to Seaford after joing the Navy circa. 1790-1800, but this is based on him giving his children Hyatt as a middle name and finding an Ann Hyatt who married a Herbert in Glos. (+ dates, names etc matching what I already know).

Have a happy New Year  :)

Have you tried a site called "Forest of Dean Family History"  They gave me lots of assistance in finding the roots of my Herbert family.  It is free and well worth a try.  Please let me know if you want any more information as to the Herbert family.  Regards Maeve
