I trying to trace my mothers side of the family. Her father was John Whelan a pilot, rumour has it he could of been involved in taking the Titanic out of Cobh 1912. He married Ellen Mahony, they had 3 children Mary (Myra) my mother, Katharine (Kitty) and Eileen. John Whelan died around 1931, Ellen being much younger than him went on to take in a baby boy Thomas Lane, no adoption papers available. I believe Ellen had sisters and brothers

If anyone has any information on Thomas Whelan or Ellen Mahony I would be really grateful.

Hello Alanah,

Have you tried any of the Churches in Cobh to see if they can assist?

I'm not sure if I've all the Catholic ones in the Cobh area on the list.
