John Musselwhite
« on: Friday 22 September 06 02:02 BST (UK) »
Can anyone help me, I am looking for a John Musselwhite born circa 1836, Downton, Wiltshire.  I have found him in later census records in Berkshire but can't find in earlier census records or birth/baptism record.

Would love to know more especially, parents, siblings etc, so I can continue to grow my tree.

Many thanks.

Can anyone help me find John, born circa1836, Downton.

I am looking for early census details (have later ones in Berkshire), also parents/siblings.

Birth or baptism records would be great, so my tree can continue to grow.

Many thanks.

There is a baptism of John Musselwaite on the IGI
Parents Jonah and Charlotte
25 JAN 1835   Winterbourne Gunner, Wiltshire, England

WG being only 8 miles from Downton.

The John born in Downtown is given as a submitted record only on the IGI

Ex Trish, Just had a visitor, while I was just trying the IGI. I see Mary Ann, Elizabeth, Thomas and Martha appear on the IGI also as extracted records (Children of Jonas and Charlotte Musselwaite)  from Winterbourne Gunner and with Charlotte listing as born there in the 1851 entry fits.

Just to confirm that the baptisms and marriages I provided were all extracted records not submitted entries, so hopefully they should be correct, and there were two John's born around the same time.  So we seem to have 1 missing John.... I can't spot a second John in either 1841 or 1851, perhaps one died........Kris  :-\

Hi Kris

I wasn't  sure where your info came from, so thought it was worth adding the IGI. I have found that when an exact date is given in a submitted entry it has usually been taken from a parish record. George and Jonas must surely be related - the name seems fairly unique - perhaps they are cousins.

regards
Trish
