well thats a start  ;) narrows it down a bit .... I'll have a look around ..

But he could have left UK before the 1901 census ...

No THO* HUR* in the Devon area born 1890 - 1901 I'm afraid.

Have you exhausted Immigration Record searches ? (not my forté I'm afraid)

There are older chaps around, but none associated with Barnstaple as such ..

I'll send you a PM.

Thanks D for trying to hunt this up for me.

Just a couple of more accurate details which may help those kind people who are trying to help find this Thomas Hurell.

Definitely left England prior to 1891 and 1901 censuses.

Thomas Hurrell born 1863 Barnstaple Devon, and married Margaret Donnelly in Bathurst, NSW on 20th July, 1885, so obviously arrived in NSW before then.

I have been unable to find any immgration records for him here in Oz. He and Margaret had lots of children, including my grandmother, (Elizabeth), and were publicans in Bathurst, though he was originally a painter (presume house painter) at the time of his marriage.

My uncle lived with Thomas and Margaret (his grandparents) for a while, in 1930's and thinks that Tom spent some time in New Guinea at some stage as had NG shields, spears etc at home.

Hope this clarifies some of the info D was kind enough to submit while trying to help me.

Thank you so very much, for any help.
