Knotty Ash Lancashire where is it?!

Hi folks,

Can someone please tell me anything about Knotty Ash in Lancashire.
Where is it and how far away from Liverpool is it. I'm guessing it's quite small is that correct?

If anyone knows of a good map of Lancs can you please post the link.

KNOTTY-ASH, a chapelry in Walton-on-the-Hill parish, Lancashire; ˝ a mile N of Broad-Green r. station, and 4 E of Liverpool. It has a post office under Liverpool, and a police station.

hi lily .. i live about 5 miles from knotty ash.if i`m right i think it didn`t become part of liverpool until about 1926/28.it was in the county of lancashire and all births etc used to be registered in preston....it is now well and truly liverpool which has extended a good 8 miles on again from knotty ash..so your family are classed as well and truly "scousers"....regards...allan
