ALLEN-JONES Family
« on: Saturday 23 September 06 19:51 BST (UK) »
Hi all,

I'm searching for any information about the Allen-Jones family who lived somewhere called Little Bursteads, Little Hallingbury, Bishops Stortford.

If anyone can help me with any knowledge of this family or of the location I would be eternally grateful.

The story begins with our Mathilde (Milly) Oppenheim marrying the Rev. J Allen Jones in 1908.

They had a son (JE) who married at St. Mary's Sawbridgeworth in 1937.  JE and Margaret Allen-Jones had one son and two daughters.

J E Allen-Jones was in the RAF and earnt the titles Vice Air Marshall and a CBE.

Kind regards
Kirsten

Hi Kirsten,

Little Hallingbury is actually in the county of Essex.

Having said that, from the Essex Street Map, Little Bursteads would appear to be a property on Hallingbury Road which is the direct route from Little Hallingbury to Sawbridgeworth railway station,  just in Hertfordshire.

Good luck with your search.

Thanks Peter!

That's settled a little of the confusion for me.  The events I refer to come from notices in the Times newspaper and on various ocasions Essex was referred to rather than Hertfordshire.  With boundaries moving over the decades it appears this is a natural reason for the varying address counties.

Thanks for your time.

Kirsten.
