Hamilton 1841 census?
« on: Wednesday 27 September 06 08:10 BST (UK) »
Can anyone do a look-up for me on the 1841 census please (if there is one?)

I'm searching for John Herbert Hamilton who was born in Devizes in 1831.

I think his Mother was possibly called Harriett (but this is only family here-say) and I know he had a least two sisters (names unknown)

A long shot perhaps, but I would relly appreciate a look-up.

Regards,

Michelle

Hi Michelle....I dont think i am going mad ::) but i found no  near  matches at all. I only found one slightly possible....... I didnt find a John b 1831 that was b Devizes or had mother Harriett or similar or had sisters in 41. I got to thinking that the sisters may have been born later. The mothers name was heresay. And places of birth change with every census anyway... so.... This is all i could come up with and hope that someone else may be able to help you.

Hmmm ???, I don't think this is him.

I wonder if he moved to Birmingham as that's where his wife came from, I had thought he'd gone there as a young man, perhaps he went when he was a young boy ??? ??? ???

Hi Michelle
Are you sure you've got his birthplace right? In 1861 in Birmingham there is a John Herbert Hamilton 31 master painter born Abbotts Bromley Staffs his wife Martha is born Devizes - is this your John?

Jan ;)
