I'm not researching the McLeods but living in Inverness I thought I might be able to help out. Do you have any more ino?

I've found a John McLeod (aged 53) married to Mary (aged 44) in 1856 and it was registered in Stoer, Sutherland.

There is also an entry in the 1871 census showing John and Mary, along with their Children Jon (15), Alexander (12), Anne (10) and Margaret (aged eight) - but no Ellen!!! At the time they lived in Albert Place, Inverness. This no longer exists and I haven't had time to check out any old maps but I think it may have been around the Kessock Street area that John Lived.

Of course, there may be no cennection here at all, but if you can let me have some more info  e.g. when and where John McLeod died I'll do some further reasearch for you.

John McLeod born born abt 1856 Inverness son of John Mc Leod born abt 1818  at stoer sutherland his wife Mary was born at Urray, Ross & Cromarty around 1827
his other children Alexander annie margaret and ellen
