1891 census - surname MELODY
« on: Saturday 30 September 06 19:43 BST (UK) »
IS there anyone who has access to the Scottish 1891 census who would be prepared to do a lookup for me please:

Family surname: Melody, Patrick - aged 17
                           Melody, Michael, aged 14

They could have added a few years to their ages.  Both are from County Mayo.
I do hope someone can help me.

Best Regards
Dee Melody

Regarding your thread on Melody about Patrick Melody and Michael Melody. My Grandad James is from County Mayo and has a brother called Michael that are around the same age. They also have 2 sisters as well. is this connected with your tree?

My Dad's family originates from Co. Mayo and our surname is Melody.

He is Patrick Melody

His dad was Edward Melody.

Dont think this will help in the slightest but I would love to find out more about the Family.

Steve.

Hi Steve.  I don't know how far you have got with your Melody family.  They are a difficult lot to track.  I'm afraid your Edward does not match our lot.  How far have you got tracing them?  I was in Mayo this summer searching for our lot.  There are very few church records or any records for that matter.  Mayo appears to have the least records of all Ireland and it makes the search even more frustrating.  If you want any help or have some dates I'm more than willing to help you.
Regards, Dee

Steve, have a look at this website - it may help you trace back your ancestors.  It's the 1901 Census for C.Mayo

www.leitrim-roscommon.com/1901census

There are plenty of Melody families on this census for the Attymass area.

bet regards

Steve, if you're still interested I can tell you quite a lot about your Melody family - I'm your second cousin. And your dad will remember me as the little boy from the next street.
