Could someone please check 1851 for Methusalem Jones born c1812.
In 1841  he was with his  parents Rees & Mary Jones at Cefn, Llangeler
I cannot find him after this.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi welsh lady,

Thanks I think that you have found him. I thought that with a name like Methusalem he would be easy to find. I was beginning to think he'd joined his brother in America.

Thanks again

I am the great great granddaughter of Methusalem Jones who did emigrate to Pennsylvania in 1879.  His older brother, Rev. R. S. Jones was already in Scranton at that time, having emigrated with his wife Elvira in 1872.  Rev. R. S. Jones was pastor of the Providence Welsh Congregational Church from 1872 until his death in 1904.

Methusalem worked in the mines and was father to Anne, Thomas, William, Elizabeth, Margaret (my great grandmother) and Sarah--the only child born in the US.

I believe the Methusalem born in 1812, was uncle to my great great grandfather, and brother to David Jones, father of R. S Jones and Methsualem.
See here for picture of both R. S. and Methu.

I would love to make contact with Fisherman as it would seem we are related.

I wonder if your Methusalem Jones is related to mine?!

I'm searching for relatives of Rev Methusalem Jones (1768-1839), born in Saron near Llangeler in Cardiganshire. He had a son, Rev John Jones (1813-1872).

The Rev Dr Rees Saron Jones was also born in Saron, and had a brother and uncle both called Methusalem... I believe the uncle was born in 1812, but don't know his father's name. It would be wonderful if someone knows how my Methusalem fits in.

Methusalem is not a part of my family.
I was helping a friend, historian and author, the late Gareth Jones.
The only thing I can remember was that Gareth believed Methusalem got one of his congregation in the family way :o and ran off with her to Scranton, Pennsylvania.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply! In a way you have been a help, by eliminating one of the many Methusalem Joneses from the list of possibilities. There were far more MJs than I ever imagined! My Methusalem stayed in Wales, definitely never went to the USA, and probably never got up to 'no good'!
