Brick Wall in Dorset
« on: Thursday 19 February 04 02:52 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I have found a baptism entry for Thomas Adams Bayley 1816, in St. James, Poole, Dorset, Parents Sarah and Thomas Adams Bayley, brush maker.
In 1819, I found a death entry for Sarah Bayley, same area.
In a Methodist church published book, I found that young Thomas said "his parents died when he was 5/6 years old and he went to live with his grandparents in Bristol"
Any suggestions where to go next greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Valerie

Hi Jenn
Yes, I am still chasing.
If your relative is John Bayley, then we definitely have a match.
Regards,
Valerie

Hello Valerie

If you have a look at
www.brushmakers.com
you'll see that brushmakers had a definite route to travel, and one of the places on the route was the Blue Anchor in Poole. Might be worth checking this out this site.

I have explored this site before, and still wish I had the 20 US sterling pounds to spend "just in case."

Thank you for your interest.

In that case, Valerie, you could always subscibe to the Bristol and Somerset rootsweb 'list' at http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/ENG/Bristol_and_Somerset.html

Good luck!

Hi Valerie,

I've found Thomas Adams BAYLEY in the 1851 & 1861 censuses.  He's a "Wesleyan" Minister in 1851 living in Leeds and a Methodist Minister in 1861 living in Blackburn.

Do you want the details of these census entries or do you already have them?

Regards,

Al

Hi Al
Thank you for your efforts on my behalf.
We have those census details, as well as the 1841.
It is his whereabouts from 1816 to 1836 that we are seeking now.
Thanks again.
