The Griffiths Valuation Index (1847-1864) lists a number
of Cleary (head of household) in county Limerick, there is
also one Maurice [see below] but this maurice would have
to be at least of majority age or head of house during the
period of the Index, it may be the father of your Maurice
born c. 1896, but more than likely his grandfather (if at all).

Good hunting.

Mike.

CLEARY, Maurice
County:      Limerick
Parish:      Iveruss
Location:      Milltown

Note"...Iveruss is/was a civil parish and is located in the
town of Askeaton, the earliest records for both
            birth/marriage is 1829.
Unfortunately Limerick Archives is now closed and I can only
suggest you try writing to the parish, but dont hold your breath

The Limerick Ancestry is now open again known as Limerick Genealogy and costs an arm and a leg, here is their link though  http://www.limerickancestry.com/

Nice to see that Limerick has reopened the archives albeit
the cost is high.

When we were there in 1998 they let me search for myself
and assisted when I requested it, maybe that is why they
had to close the doors, it cost me nothing!, not counting
the $13,000 to get there and back! ;D a magical trip though!.

Hi!

Did you ever find Maurice Cleary? He is my stepfather's gt gt grandfather. His gt gt grandmother is Ellen Boddy. Have found a Maurice Cleary in the Griffiths 1853 Valuation, but don't know if it's the same one.

Any information greatly appreciated
