I'm looking for more information on my family. So far I have my 5 x Grt. Grandfather as Benjamin b 1743, Pontefract; his son Edward b 1780, Pontefract; his son John b 1805/08, Kirk Smeaton, who married Maria; his son Charles b 1834/35 at Burn, married Elizabeth; his son John William b 1860 at Carlton nr Selby, who married Joanna Robinson in Selby in 1880.  I'd love to hear from anyone who can add anything to my tree.

Thanks for your email. I have been able to get some more info on my Rhodes family, though mainly through other sources. Maybe someone can provide more info. from the following :-  Joanne Robinson and John William Rhodes has the following children -
Ann Sissons      born 1881
Elizabeth           born 1883
Joseph                       1884
Charlotte                   1886   went to USA
Walter                       1888   went to Australia
William James            1890   (my Grandad)
Joanne                       1891

I have the listing of each in 1901 census,in Breighton, ER, but nothing since then on other than Grandad. He married Emily Jackson in 1912 and had Edith, Kathleen, John William and Dorothy. John William was my Dad.

Hopefully I will get more info. now.

Sorry I can't help, but I'm descended from a Mary RHODES who married Thomas BAYLEY in Tankersley (22 miles away from Pontefract) on 9 August 1736.  So if anyone can help you out with your early RHODES ancestors perhaps they'll also bump into mine?   ::)

I have a Jesse Rhodes who had a daughter Mary (b abt 1854) who married Alfred SENNETT.  Son James SENNETT (b abt 1984)  married Rhoda OXLEY.  They were mostly from Pudsey, Nth Bierley sort of area, but the SENNETTs and OXLEYs may have come from closer to Pontefract (Whitwood, Normanton etc)
