Hi
I dont know of the specific Snellings you speak of, but as you say it is not a very common name.  There used to be a Snelling family living in Wenham Drive Westlciff-on-Sea when I was a child.....Hmm lets see.... 35+ years ago.
They owned Snelling carpets that used to be on the corner of London Road and Hamlet Court Road also in Westlciff.
There was an old man called Bill who terrifed me but gave me sixpence when he saw me.  I think he was slightly retarded which was a terrible shame becuase he was a very happy kind man.  There were others but I'll have to wrack my brain to remember their names.  Hope you can make a link with these ones !

Hi,

I was born in Dunton Wayletts as us old timers know it should still be named! Post Office dropped the Wayletts on us in the early 70's.

Anyway, from memory of the area and looking at the 1841 census enumerators placenames, the cottages were somewhere near the junction of Doesgate Lane and the Lower Dunton Rd. Both Doesgate lane and the Lower Dunton Rd should be easy enough to find on a modern map, abot halfway from the A127 towards Horndon on the Hill is Doesgate Lane heading towards Bulphan and the A128.

Hope this helps in some small way.
P.S. I think there are still some old cottages etc around that junction so the cottage may even still be standing.
