Hertford to Chipping Ongar in Essex -
« on: Monday 09 October 06 06:58 BST (UK) »
Hi all

On the map I have, which does not include a scale, Hertford appears not far from Moreton and Chipping Ongar in Essex - does anyone know roughly how long it would take to get from one place to another?

The person I am researching would have done the trip in the 1820's

curious

Hi MC

Its a trip I make most days on my way to work and is about 20 miles and takes me about half an hour in the car, although of course the roads are a little better now than in the 1820's, guess at that time it would have taken most of the day to cover, still at least they didnt have Harlow and the A414/M11 junction to go through!
