Not having much luck with Emily...Not many at all claiming birth in Rocester and Emily does appear consitant with that....wonder y these girls are out on there own so young......unfortnately I dont have any earlier census for Staff or Lanc...........Martha  :-X Round The Mill.....I Love it!  ;D

CLIFF Mary Ann Head 16 Unm b Rochester Starffordshire Cotton Mill Hand
CLIFF Elizabeth Sister 14 Unm b Rocester Staffordshire Cotton Mill Hand
CLIFF Emma Sister 12 b Rocester Staffordshire Cotton Mill Hand

This looks highly likely to me but 61 census would b fab....I have an Emmeline who is Emily and Emma as well so It looks to me like this is your Emily

There is 1 more Cliff born in Rocester a 6 year old George a Nurse Child still in Rocester  ???

Kris :D

Hi Kris
The interesting one is the interloper  James Whittaker. He must be the connection with Sir Henry Whittaker Trickett of Rossendale. My mums grandmother, Emily recollected going to his house with George 'Jud Whittaker' Tattersall.
Also Martha is pretty interesting too. I wonder what happened to 'Mr Tattersall' Was she married or not?
Cheers
Wack

Yes Fascinating isnt it...Im a little suss about Mr Tattersall.... 8)......Hope u find out .....At Least u now have your Whittaker connection and that Martha did marry him eventually (Explains y George was sometimes Judd Whittaker  :-X mayb)...... U will have to delve a little further there...perhaps some of the birth certs initially may help......Marthas marriage cert to James Whittaker also will list if she is a widow......mayb she had been married and the elusive Mr Tattersall was somewhere and she had to wait for him to die to marry.....full of suppositions i am...lol.....61 census is a must!............devious little mind at work here......mmm......Wonder what your family will think of all these revelations,

All the best with it...glad to have helped.
Kris  :)
