Hi Helka
going by the age of Edward,(there might have been an older child) I worked out when Edward & Maria might have married.I found one around the right time in Manchester. Have you got the marriage now?

Hi Celia
I haven't got a marriage date or an exact birth date - for him - or a maiden name for his wife.   I recently sent for one of the daughters birth record from the Cathedral, Manchester to try and get a maiden name. -to be honest don't know where to look next - I'm only a learner I just keep trying.
What makes you think there is an older child.
If he was born 1797 - the first child (Harriet) 1818 makes him 21?

Hello Helka
I had thought you were looking for the marriage of Edward (Father) and (maria) Mother these are the couple i was referring to as having an older child(maybe).Anyway the marriage i found was for
Edward Grindrod Married Maria Cartledge in Manchester Cathedral on the 29th January 1838. I also found the B/c of an Edaward jnr at the cathedral his father was Edward Grindrod but the mother had a different name. do you think Edward srn was married before married Maria.

Hi Celia
Yes I am looking for Edward (Father) and wife (who I understand was Maria)   The marriage you found on the 29th Jan 1838 may well be his 2nd!!
I found (and kept in pencil) a Maria Cartledge born 4 March 1798. Nothing came up with a marriage 1815-20.
Could this be Maria in 1838???
I will wait until I get Maria Grindrod born c1830 (daughter) birth record from the Cathedral M/cr  and see if the mothers maiden name is showing.
Edward his son born c1827 married Ann (c1832) first child born c1858 - so it is not him.
After that if getting nowhere perhaps I will take a chance  and send for marriage cert. and see if he was a widower.  Must admit I hadn't thought of a second marriage.   Thank you.
