Patrick Crossan - Dundee 1901 Census
« on: Wednesday 11 October 06 18:35 BST (UK) »
Hi All

Does anyone have access to the 1901 Census for Dundee please? I am looking for Patrick Crossan on this census. He was killed with the 4/5th Black Watch on 3rd September 1916. His death was recorded in the People's Journal and his address was stated as being 4 St David's Lane, Dundee. He was 31 when he died which would make him about 16 years of age during the census.

In advance, Many Thanks with anyone that helps with this matter  ;)

Aye

Hi Tom.
There is only one Patrick Crossan on the 1901 Dundee census.
Patrick Crossan son, 17, jute worker,
b. Dundee
Joseph, son, 15 jute worker. b Dundee
Dominic, son, 14 jute worker,b. Dundee
Mary, daur, 9 scholar, b. Dundee
Margaret A daur 7 Scholar B. Dundee
William son 4 b. Dundee
James son 1, b. Dundee.
Living at 106 Fimble Lane? The writing isnt too good but its not St. Davids Lane.
I didnt have enough credits to open the previous page but this would have shown his parents. Hope this is of use to you.
His birth cert. states parents as
John Crossan General Labourer
Catherine Flynn
Married April 7 1880, Dundee.
Regards
Anne

Anne,

That is brilliant, many thanks, it sounds like my man. I don't suppose anyone has an old map of Dundee showing the relation of these streets to one another?

Hi Tom,
I have just looked on multimap.com and have found both streets, although if you put St. Davids lane it doesnt bring it up. I put in just Davids lane and up one came. Also Patrick was born in Dudhope Crescent, that will also come up as well as Fimble St. None are that far from each other.
I have downloaded the 1901 census and Patricks birth from SP if you want them send pm with email address and I will send them to you.
 Hope this helps,
Anne.
p.s. my rellies lived up the road from yours in blackness road.
 :)

Hi Tom,
Thought Fimble Lane sounded wrong although there does appear to be one. Really glad the info was right and that you recieved the certs.
