Hi Chris

Well here's a turn up - a school master!   William was a Yeoman in his Will.  At least I know that Caroline was living with William/Rebecca for some time.  The poor girl was only 15 when the first child was born.  I am leaning towards your theory of William being the father - I don't know what else to make of this lot!  You keep coming up with some very interesting information.

Was there a Census conducted in 1861?  If so (and if you have it) would you kindly have a look for Rebecca & Caroline.
