Ebenezer Chapel, Beckett Street, Leeds
« on: Friday 13 October 06 12:56 BST (UK) »
Hello All

I was wondering if anyone could solve a mystery for me?  My Great Grandmother was born in Ebenezer Chapel, Beckett Street, Leeds, in 1892.  It doesn't seem to exist now, but we were a bit confused as to why she would have been born in a Chapel.  We do know that her father, owned his own leather grinding shop on Beckett Street, and thought that maybe it was this disused Chapel which they lived and worked in.

Does anyone have any background on this Chapel, as it might help to actually figure this mystery out.

Sally.

It doesn't look as if it was disused in 1892 - the records go to 1958.

Have you looked here:  http://www.leodis.org/default.aspx to see if there are any photographs?

Hi Jill

Thank you for the information  :)  Now the plot thickens.  Hopefully I'll get the bottom of it one day!
