Hi  John Murray - father John -mother died young -M/cr. area
Anyone help with first marriage of John Murray c1870-6
Must have married between 1890-1900 and first wife died because he married again (I think rather quickly - and 2nd wife was c10 years younger) in 1906 in Manchester at St.Patricks Livesy St.  Do not know anything about John only from his 2nd marriage onwards (my husbands grandad) Married Annie Quinn from Belfast.

Do you know when John Murray was born?

John Murray on his 2nd marriage cert. says age 30 which makes it 1876 - on his death cert.  says 76 - Jan. 1946 - which makes it 1870  -  the norm for that era - take your choice ??  except that his father was also John Murray we do not know anything about him - we do think he was born in Manchester

John W Murray married - Grace Luke
John T Murray married - Jane Woodall


1893

John Murray married - Florence Dickinson / Sinclair


1897

John E Murray married - Lillian Matthews


1899

John W Murray married - Ann E Graham

1900

John Murray married - Mary E Mulhall



Perhaps you could use this info to search the 1901 Census and see if you can tie anything up / and then perhaps search the death index between 1890-1905 on any Murrays who tie up with the womens names above.


Good Luck ... bit of a pain this one isnt it because its such a popular name.

Thanks for all the info - I must admit I had began to give up for a while and come back later - but I will work on these names on the 1901 - I had picked up some names  from the death index for manchester  before 1906 -
and one of them was on your list.    I need to go into  the Manchester Record Office to check these - this way I can see them before actually paying which helps.
Its a bit of a long shot not knowing anything before 1906
