!861 & 71 Census SAICH - COMPLETE Thank you
« on: Saturday 14 October 06 00:00 BST (UK) »
Can anyone find Thomas John Saich for me in !861 and 1871.  I am particularly interested in what his job was in those census.

He was born in Paddington in 1840 and was married to Sarah Churchill in Ruislip in 1866 where two of his children were born.

Ann Elizabeth in 1867 and Florence in 1872.  However Arthur was born in Hanwell in 1870.

I have other evidence that he was living in Ealing prior to 1867 and may have been in debtors prison in 1867 when his first child was probably born at Sarah's parents home in Ruislip.

His jobs seem to vary between farm bailiff, Corn and Coal Merchant, Hay Dealer and labourer.

Many thanks

Thank you Cas.  That is him still with his parents in 1861.  I wonder where his wife and children were in 1871.

Thank you Jorose.  I have now worked out that both parents died in 1878 and the children were spread around various relatives in 1881.

Intreguingly Thomas's brother William married the daughter of Joseph Churchill and then ran the Black Horse Inn, and Thomas's son Herbert changed his name to Churchill by deed poll in 1919.
