Baird's of Flimby
« on: Saturday 14 October 06 22:01 BST (UK) »
These are very exciting times.

I have just recently discovered the John Baird was born in  Flimby, Cumberland in 1769.  I was wondering what archive held the parish records for the time period?

This would make the John Baird at http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,188303.0.html the same person and my ggggrandfather.

Thanks,

Glenn

I'd expect the microfils to be at the record office at Whitehaven.

You can email them to confirm. The address and opening hours are on their website - google "whitehaven record office".
Looking at ALSTON in south Ribble area, ALSTEAD and DONBAVAND/DUNBABIN etc. everywhere, HOWCROFT and MARSH in Bolton and Westhoughton, PICKERING in the Whitehaven area.

Census information is Crown Copyright. See www.nationalarchives.gov.uk for details.
