Baptism Mutford and Lothingland - BRADNUM
« on: Tuesday 17 October 06 00:19 BST (UK) »
Hi,

Could someone look-up a Baptism/Christening  for me for  Charles Bradnum 1847/8...mother Charlotte, father Isaac.

I can't find a GRO birth registration for him but  all the other children were registered. He is called Charles on the 1851 age 3, 1861 age 13,  possibly this was his second name. I did find an Isaac b1846 died 1846...then another Isaac born 1847 which I think is possibly  my Charles.

Hopefully you will find one because he is the last link I really need to join the family together.

I expect you know that Mutford and Lothingland is the name of The Hundred and has 26 parishes within it.

I did find on the 1851 Census living in Back Lane, Hamlet of South Town

Isaac age 29 Head Gardener born Gelderstone in Norfolk

Charlotte age 32 wife born Harleston Norfolk

William Robert age 7 son born Gt Yarmouth NFK

Daniel (could be one or 4) son Southtown SFK

Then a 14 year old relative called Mark (?Wisker?) who was born in Harleston in Norfolk (same birthplace as Charlotte).

Then last on the group is

Charles Bradnum, son age 3 born Southtown SFK

Southtown (known locally as Little Yarmouth) was a hamlet of Gorleston.

You now need to check out the PRs for either St Mary Southtown or possibly St Nicholas in Great Yarmouth.

Best wishes for successful research

Blything, Bosmere, Bury St. Edmunds, Cosford, Depwade, Hartismere, Hoxne, Ipswich, Mildenhall, Mutford & Lothingland, Newmarket, Plomesgate, Risbridge, Samford, Stow, Sudbury, Thetford, Thingoe, Wangford, Woodbridge

Hi Ambers

This is the list of all the Suffolk Hundreds as it appears on the top of the Rootschat page for Suffolk  ;D

These areas are sort of equivalent to Disctrict Councils today (I live in south Suffolk which is in fact, Babergh District Council - so you see it is using one of the ancient names).
