Considine Co Clare
« on: Wednesday 18 October 06 20:16 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am researching my G Grandfather's Considine line from the Ennis region in Co Clare but have not been able to find out much. I know his father was called John and my G Grandfather was born in 1885, but would be grateful of any help or suggestions of any sources I can use to find out more about them as I have very little information so far and cant get to Ireland to search through records easily.

Any help is much appreciated

HI there

Was your Thomas Considine from Cloughleagh,Ennis?

My father in law was also from the same part of Ennis- Christopher Coleman b 1911. Two years ago we were over there looking for evidence of where he lived and a lady told us to go and knock on some chaps house-he lived in Considine Road or Street. It turned out that his dad used to play hurling with my father in law and he only had a photo of him on his hall wall  ;D ;D ;D

He then proceeded to take it off the wall and gave it to us.

Lovely people the Irish.............he then sent us a Xmas card with Ennis Cathedral on it.

Have you used the http://www.clarelibrary.ie/ website and found your ancestors in 1901 and 1911 yet?

Pm me if you want any more help.

Happy hunting

Carol

PS my mother in law came from Kilbaha,Co Clare- about as far as you can go down south in the county without falling into the sea. :P

Hi acceber

Have you had any luck in getting back to earlier generations in your research for the Considine's?  I have hit a brick wall.

I am researching my ancestor Ann Considine, born mid 1800's and married Martin Fitzmaurice in 1872, Co Clare - do not have a placename.  They had two sons Michael & John before they emigrated to Australia in 1874.

Her parents were Denis & Ann (nee Duggan) Considine.

Have noted your info just in case I come across anything.

Regards
Ashe

Hi Acceber

Are you still looking for Considine's from Ennis?

I now have a few BMD certs for my hubby's Coleman family.

Some of them mention other Ennis names-eg two marriages per page is bound to throw a few other names up.The dates are roughly 1860's to 1923.

Try me  ;D

Carol

Also did you know that you can now search the Clare 1901 by surname?
 See http://www.clarelibrary.ie/eolas/coclare/genealogy/1901census/name_index/surname_index.htm
