Hello to you
Has anyone got access to the parish records/banns of St George the Martyr in Southwark???
I have recently got thro a brick wall which has got me back on track looking for the HILLS + BELFIELD family of Keston/Bromley
The problems - amongst others - being that the Hills family intemarried + used the same christian names over + over again. The women seem to have gone into service so finding marriage certs - if they did ever actually tie an official knot - is also easier said than done
For some time I have been looking for the marriage of HILLS Thomas (b1834) x HILLS Mary (b abt 1836) - possibly cousins
The 1841 census shows a Mary Hills age 25 born in Keston in service in SE London (King William ST)
Yesterday I received a marriage cert from Liverpool for a marriage HILLS Thomas x HILLS Mary Aug 3rd 1862 in St George the Martyr in Southwark. - the father of Thomas is William Hills + the father of Mary is Thomas Hills + the 1 address given is Great Suffolk St - not too far from King William St.
1 poss source of additional info is that this marriage was by banns - tho I haven't found them as yet in Bromley or Keston - but they should, hopefully, be in Southwark
If anyone would like to swap info on this family please get in touch - I am going thro the Keston/Bromley parish records + have bdm info which may be useful to someone
