my apologies for looking up the totally wrong family! I'm hoping to make amends with some of the info I have for you.
Don't know whether you have the census for 1871
1 Melbourne Place, Swansea RG10/5452 folio 62 pg 8
John H C Kenney head mar 28 solicitor's managing clerk b. Wakefield
Martha E wife 25 b. Leeds
Ada H dau 3 b. Swansea
Florence P dau 2 b. Leeds
Gwenllian E 6 months b. Swansea
Lucy A Campbell sisiter in law unm 12 servant b. Leeds

couldn't find the family in 1891 but did find these 2 deaths
John Kenney age 44 dec qtr 1890 Swansea vol 11a pg 520
Elizabeth Kenney age 43 jun qtr 1890 Swansea vol 11a pg 466

1891 census entries
Gertrude Kenney servant 20 Hanover st, Swansea RG12/4483 folio 123 pg 19
Gwenllian in the Glamorgan Hotel RG12/4478 folio 9 pg 13
Beatrice Alice Kenney 17 nurse to her married sister Ada Helen Bowen with 2 young daughters including a 'baby just born'
RG12/4477 folio 6 pg 6 Burrow St, Swansea

marriage registered dec qtr 1888 Ada Helen Kenney and William Huxtable Bowen Swansea vol 11a pg 1206

possible Florence P Kenney tailoress in Leeds RG12/3707 folio 17 pg 27

couldn't spot Agnes in 1891 or John at first. I found John in 1901
37 Ffynone St, Swansea RG13/5076 folio 190 pg 37
James Fry head mar 60 retired publican b. Glos, Gloucester
Alice 57 wife b. Glos, Eastington
Herbert G son 28 county court clerk b. Somerset, Bath
Maud K dau 26 b. Somerset, Bath
Sidney J son 23 draper's clerk b. Somerset, Bath
Lilian M dau 22 telephone operator b. Somerset, Bath
John M Kenney adopted son 22 plumber b. Yorks, Batley

found this family in 1891 living at 83 Gorse Lane RG12/4483 folio 47 pg 23. They have a John Kenney living with him age 14 but born in Cardigan? The transcription of his name is wrong -  Ancestry have him called John Henney aged 104 - bit hard as he was a porter!

Agnes could be hiding behind a mistranscription and might still turn up. I'll keep looking.

I am amazed at the amount of information you come up with on this board  :) Thankyou so much for looking up this family and locating such a lot of detail for me.   It looks as though John and Elizabeth Kenney both became ill at the same time and died young.   It appears that the family settled in Swansea eventually.
Looking at the 1901 census where John M Kenney, adopted son, appears, I note that some of the children were born in Bath, Somerset, where the Arthur I am looking for came from.  I wonder if there is a connection anywhere here with the families?    Thanks again Osprey.  Maureen

Today I received the marriage certificate for my father in law Arthur Baron Brown, but it does not help me at all.  He gives his father's name as just Arthur Brown. No mention of Herbert or Chester and whether or not deceased.   ???

1891 30 Dillwyn Street, RG12/4478 folio 97 pg 16
Annie Lucas head single 61 dressmaker b. Glam, Llanmadoc
A M Keanney 18 domestic servant b. Glam, Swansea

looks like it was a good 'situation' as she stayed in the same house for over 10 years. On the census, the neighbour on one side is a professor of music from Clifton, Glos and on the other a brewer born in Jamaica.

Thanks Osprey for all the Kenney information.  I wonder if Arthur and Agnes returned to Swansea after baby Arthur was born. I guess I will have to wait for the next census to find out what happened to them and where young Arthur was in 1910.  Thanks again.  Maureen

I've found the family at 11 St Mark's St, Leeds in 1901 RG13/4233 folio 9 pg 10
Emma Emmett head widow laundress b. Aberford
John son 29 ?'s labourer b. Leeds
William L son 21 baker's(?) assistant b. Leeds
Lillie grand daughter 13 b. Leeds
Thomas H Hargreaves(?) boarder 25 organ builder b. Leeds

The enumerator's writing isn't very clear and he put marks over the occupations so I'm not sure what they say. This family is at that address in 1891 and 1881. In 1871, they are at number 19. Mr Emmett was called Peter and I found their marriage in 1862 Peter Emmett and Emma Linley at St Ricarius, Aberford. Do either of these surnames crop up in your research anywhere?
