William Lewis, 30 belesering  ??? office /officer

Hi Cas,

I managed to get a copy of the 1841 census page.
After serious scrutiny under a big magnifying glass, I've come to the conclusion that William was a relieving officer - which apparently means he was either the stand in publican (which I think is more likely unlesss I find proof otherwise) or someone who decided on relief to give to the poor of the village.

The handwriting for that word is terrible and looks like it's been amended a couple of times in an attempt to make it more legible.

Just thought you might like to know in case you come across it again in your searches.

Thanks for letting me know, think your right looks more likely he was stand in publican.

The writing was a bit diabolic  ???

go to wales -glamorgan-cardiff -directories look up publicans,inn keepers, hoteliers
found 1837 William lewis -Hollybush Whitchurch.
interesting because it's pre- 1841 census
