I have just found an entry for my great grandfather in the 1851 English census.  He was based at Chatham Barracks, listed as  Private in the army.  It states that he was born in County Meath in 1833, it also states the town name and it looks like Camacross, has anyone any knowledge of this place?

Hello Corky,

I wonder if the place might be Carnaross.

It's a 139 acre townland in the Barony of Upper Kells which is in the Parish of Loughan or Castlekeeran.
