GREEN Family - Hertford

Please can someone help?! I am trying to trace my Grandad's family. I have his father, uncles and Grandparents on the 1901 census living in Capel, Kent.

Listed are:

Alfred Green 47  (Head)
Charles Green 11 (Son)
Kellick Green 18  (I think is Frederick)
Rose Green 41  (Wife)
William Green 19 (Son)

All listed as born Hertford, Hertfordshire!

I have found their marriage records at Capel Church with the following Info:

15 June 1920 Charles Green (age 28) Farm Lab, married Lilian Ada Wells (age 19) land worker. Father of Charles as Alfred Green. THIS IS MY GREAT GRANDPARENTS!

27 July 1908 William Green (age 21) labourer married Lily Elizabeth Emily Wells (age 21). William's father is Alfred Green.

29 November 1902 Frederick Green (age 21) married Annie Eliza Hatch (age 19). Father of Frederick is Alfred Green.

I am in do doubt the the Green family on the census is MY family, but I cannot trace them before this. All I have is a birth of William Green 1887 Hertford, Hertforshire to go on, but is this him??????

Please can someone help??? I can find no Births, Marriages, Deaths or Census's except those listed above.

Hi Julia,

It is an interesting one this - can't find a census yet - must be indexed under something different.
BUT - what about this:
Jun q/r 1883
Frederick Green
Hertford 3a 475

I expect you have realised that the ages given on the census and those on the marriage don't add up!!  ;)

Right off to see what else I can find - wonder if Rose was his 2nd wife - Fred's birth certificate would tell you that!

Just noticed that William was down as 17 on the 1901 census - might find him now  :o

There is a Frederick Charles Green born in Hertford Dec q/r 1890 - 3a 521 - wonder if that's him?

No - forget Frederick Charles Green - he is with his parents Fred & Mary  - with 2 siblings Ethel & Beatrice - in Hertford tho!! ;)

According to his marriage certificate Charles was born in 1892 - so what about Charles Frederick Green born Dec q/r 1892 in Tunbridge - Kent - which includes the parish of Capel!! ::) ::)

Saves the enumerator putting down something extra!!

Only one that comes anywhere near in '81 Alfred & Rosina Green boarders in Sawbridgeworth - he is an Ag Lab - but down as born Gt Hallingbury.

Wow, thanks! You have been busy on my behalf! Just off to bed now, and the marrige looks interesting!!!! Def not Frederick Green born Capel as I have already spoken to the family, and we are not related at all (just a pure coincidence).

Please keep looking though, because you have come up with more than me! Will be back for more updates tomorrow!
