The Milmers from Jersey
« on: Friday 27 October 06 14:02 BST (UK) »
Hello
Does anyone know  anything about the Milmers from Jersey. My g g grandfather was Philip Milmer born about 1831 in Jersey. I know that he lived in england in 1868 and that he was in Jersey again in 1871 with his wife Cecelia and daughter Rosa Bertha. In 1871 Cecelia is shown as a widow.Living with her 2 daughters in St Helier
I have found Cecelia in 1901 in hospital in St Helier but I cannot find any record of her death or Philips.I would be very grateful for any help.
Thanks

Hi there

I think you meant in Cecelia was a widow in 1881  - therefore expecting Philip died btw 1871 and 1881.

I can't find deaths, but I have listed the Census as it helps to search if we know the full details.

Do you think 1841 below  is him (ie: what is his father's name on marriage if you have it?

Have found Cecelia in 1861 (below)  Looks like Philip was a Seaman for a time - so may explain why he can't be found 1851 and 1861. Have also found her in 1891 - not sure if you have these...

Hello Ambly,
Thanks very much for the info. What a dimbo i am to put the wrong year down. This has given me a great start on the next stage of my search and I really appreciate it. I thought Philip might have been at sea for a while but was fooled by him being a rigger A local contact in Plymouth said that riggers very rarely actually went to sea.
Thanks again
Bob
