Census lookup for HERBERT

I am in the process of researching my family tree, and have just started on my wifes ancestry.

Unfortunately, her father remarried late in life (aged around 50) and so I am reliant on his recollections.

I know that my wifes grandfather was someone called Alfred Gibbs who married someone called Anne Eveline Herbert, who was Welsh.  I have looked up on BMD, and come up with someone called Annie Eveline Herbert on the September 1889 record in Brecknock, which i understand is on the borders of Breconshire & powys. 

My knowledge of Wales is abominable I'm afraid nd so would appreciate any assistance from anyone for the 1891 and 1901 census records for this district.

I do not have details of her parents names, but I am told she had some siblings:

Nell
Renee
William

Again, looking on BMD I have found an entry for William in 1901, Nellie in 1895 - but nothing for Renee - so this could just be a pet name.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Have checked the Brecon 1901 census and there are no real names matching except Annie 1890 and Willie 1896.

There are a number of other children there, but no matches to the names you give.

There is also this birth which is on the border of Wales

Have you any ideas when/where the Gibbs/Herbert marriage took place?  It would be easier to trace back, as then you will know you are on the right track, with details from this marriage cert.

Dear All

Thanks for your responses.

I have done some more digging, and have managed to speak to an elderly relative who actually has a surprisingly good memory for names and daes.

She tells me that Annie Eveline Herbert was born on 23rd September 1889 in Brecon

Mums name was Mary Jane Mansfield-Layer (died of TB aged 41) and father was William Herbert

Revised list of Childrens names now includes:

Nellie
Renee (died of TB - not sure how old)
Dolly
Ida (died of TB aged 7)
William (left home to join navy aged 18 after row with father)
Annie
Gwladys (died of TB aged 17)

It is possible that many of these names are either nicknames or shortened, and in some cases may have been distorted by memory?  If someone could confirm some of these names for me in any of the census records for Breconshire I would greatly appreciate it.

Looks like second marriage, has elder daughter Florence.  1881 is free to search on familysearch.org, they are still in 8 Free Street, put in a search for Florence.
