Tankersley Encampment Yorkshire?
« on: Sunday 29 October 06 11:48 GMT (UK) »
Hi I'm interested in a place known in the 1851 census as Sidges/t Lane Encampment Tankersley Yorkshire.

Has anyone heard of this place? And if so where is Tankersley in Yorkshire?

I'm gratefull for any help you can give me on this one.

Thanks Baz.

Thanks dennford, I've found Tankersley on the map, right next to M1 jcn36. Pity the motorway weren't there in 1851 it would have saved the rellies their shoe leather.

I reckon that Sidges Lane Encampment was some sort of travelers camp.

Thanks again Baz.
