Hi Janice
Silverton is a large council housing estate which consists mostly of one up one down buildings. My Grandparents lived there and it was always a very nice area , it still is , I live round the corner from it. It is located in Dumbarton East not far from the castle. I didnt know there was a co op there although there still is a co op funeral place along the road. Do you know the address? I could get a picture if you like?
Mrst

Hi MRST, thanks for your reply, got it wrong about the co-op, William worked at the co-op in Craigendoran/Helensburgh, but he came from Silverton. Unfortunatly, i do not know the address where he lived, all i know is that he came from Silverton, really stuck with him, do you know any GRAHAMS? long shot i know, also, is there a war memoriol in dunbarton? as William was lost at sea during ww2, would love to find out any family there. cheers mrst.  Kind Regards.  Janice.

Hi Janice
Yes I do know Grahams from Dumbarton , dont know if its Silverton or not though!
I think the only memorial statue in Dumbarton is the Boer war at the County Buildings, but dont quote me.
If I get to Dumbarton Library any time soon I will ask for you. You could email them , I have always found them really helpful in my investigations. Was William married or leave any children behind?
Mrst

Hi

My Grand parents lived in Crosslet Road, Silverton.  There is a war memorial in Levengrove Park in Dumbarton, and you can see a picture on West Dumbarton Council Web page.  I have attempted to attach the clip - hope it works.

I also know Graham's who may come from Silverton, one of them is a William.  Will see what I can find out for you
