OK

1) Michael, I asked whether the FTM-2005 was being given away free, not the Sunday Times 'free' CD version.
2) The Kinship Report has always been available with FTM 6.0.  Click on View and then select Kinship Report.

Polidor - when you open the program does it say Update Now - in other words you get diverted to their website and then it asks you to pay for the Sunday Times version?

I gave it a good coat of looking at downside before I decided against, and from what I can see, it's a genuine, no catch programme....obviously the idea is for you to update to v2006 at the cost of £29 yadayada and also to subscribe to Ancestry at twice their normal fee....but that seems to be optional........ ;D ;D ;D

Maybe those who have kept it may be more enlightened...

Fearless Poli seems to be OK with it......GO Poli... ;D ;D

No, it doesn't ask you to update. Didn't get diverted to any website. I just installed the programme  the usual way and was asked if i wanted to register now or later. i clicked on 'later'----The programme opened up with all my tree info in a new format, everything usable. The reason i did the registration part later was because i already had an Ancestry subscription and that meant i was able to get a search facility to go with the new CD version.

If you chose not to register and didn't already belong to Ancestry you could still install the new version and then you could choose either to try a 2 week trial with Ancestry or not. Poli

Thanks for that polidor.

I've now installed it now and there do not seem to be any hidden catches.

The layout is similar to PAF.

myfamily.com seem to have gone mad recently.  Firstly they gave us '3 days for free' courtesy of ancestry.com and now they have given away FTM-2005 for free.

Hi,

I have put the Sunday Times FTM freebie on my computer and have started to fill in the details from the Excel sheets I currently use. I have a few queries if anyone can help please.

How up to date is this freebie; is it one that is time linked as per http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,184615.0.html?

Is it version 6; how far outdated compared to V16 as per http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,189276.0.html?

Can I export a GEDCOM from this FTM to GenesReunited?

Hope you can help.

Thanks,

Hi Grothenwell

1) It is FTM-2005 and the latest version is FTM-2006.
2) It is totally free to use with no hidden catches.
3) Yes you can export a GEDCOM from FTM and import it into GenesReunited.
