1901 ireland census
« on: Wednesday 08 November 06 15:23 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

Does anyone know for sure if I can search the 1901 census over the internet or do I have to visit Belfast GRO?
Also, it this census indexed or would I have to search each page myself?

Thanks in advance,

Molly

Wouldn't it be nice, but unfortunately it is still not on the internet & it does have to be searched reel by reel in PRONI Belfast or GRO Dublin or one of the Latterday Saints family history centres.

It is best if you know the approximate area of search, eg townland / parish which will reduce the amount of trawling you will have to do.

In the last few years many Irish resources have been put online including the 1901 and 1911 census records- bith searchable (free)-
