Help Needed re: Burial Records
« on: Thursday 09 November 06 15:06 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to locate the cemetery where my great grandmother would be buried. This is the information I have so far. Margaret McGillie died in 1925 at Glasgow Maternity Hospital. At the time of her death her address was listed as 42 Risk Street. She was Catholic.
I am trying to locate where she may be buried. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi McGilleyclan

You could contact the Cemeteries & Crematoria  Registrar inn Glasgow and see what information they have. See this link (contact details at the bottom of the page): www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/Residents/BirthDeathMarriage_Citizenship/Death/Burialgrounds/

All of my Catholic Glasgow and surrounding areas family were buried at Dalbeth Cemetery, see this link here on RootsChat: www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,82762.15.html

Regards.

Monica

If she was Catholic and buried in Dumbarton i think she will be in Dumbarton Cemetry.
The nearest parish to Risk st is St Patricks or St Michaels

The parish would be St Patrick's, but as they do not keep death records, there will be no help there.  It is probable that she was buried in Dumbarton Cemetery, and they keep up to date records there.  Older records need to be accessed in Clydebank.  The telephone number for Dumbarton and Clydebank Cemeteries is 0141 567 2310.  They are very helpful, although I believe there is now a charge for the search I believe.
