James Shorter 1841/1851/1861 census
« on: Sunday 12 November 06 20:09 GMT (UK) »
Could someone please look for James Shorter born 1797 in Berkshire in the 1841 1851 and 1861 census. He and his wife Ann born in 1800 in Wantage Wiltshire are possibly living in Wiltshire.

It looks like father was away from home at the time of the 1841 census, but very conveniently somebody put him down before he was crossed out.

Naomi Shorter married Charles Henry Mathews September qtr 1864 Islington 1b 437
and if you search FreeBMD you will see that the page says 457 and if you look at the image the middle number is a little unclear, there's also no Charles Mat[t]hews to match her, but if you search for Charles Henry Mathews and look at the image you will see that the page number is much clearer.

Thanks for the additional info I knew that James died in 1868 and Mary died in 1878
in Surrey, but I did not know why she was living there, and with Naomi moving there that explains alot. I believe that Mary may have married in Sussex, but not too sure about Caroline as yet.  I also know that Naomi had at least two children so sill have some work to do on this line. Thanks for all your help.

Hi,

I've left the 1881 census for you to do your own searching, post the details on later and I'll check in 1891 for them.
